GSM Interface Units are otherwise known by some names such as:
- Cellular or GSM Gateways
- Mobile Interface Trunk
- Fixed Wireless Terminals
The term known as Least Cost Routing is any easy, simple way of reducing your phone bills significantly, depending on your phone calling behaviour to mobile phones, using these units.
The way that this is achieved, is by programming your switchboard on a designated extension number, to call a designated mobile number which is the simcard located inside the GSM Interface unit.
By doing this, when you use any of your desktop telephone handsets in the office to dial any mobile number on that designated extension, it will send the call through the GSM Mobile Network of your Service Provider to the mobile being called. The call will be then charged at the rates outlined on your mobile phone plan from your service provider.
The way this saves you money, is when the plan you have allows you to call other mobiles within your fleet for free for a set amount of time e.g. the first 5 minutes. This means that using your office phone to call any of your fleet mobiles will be free. Or even if the plan has a discounted rate e.g. 5 cents per 5 minute block. This will Save you Money !
